As the editor of Student Wire, I recognised the hard work that goes into writing for a publication whilst at university. Student Wire was entered into the UK Blog Awards in November 2014. During this time I created and developed a social media campaign to encourage our readers to vote for us as their favourite student publication.
With over 200 writers I thought it was about time that they got some recognition from an internationally recognised awards scheme. My social media campaign consisted of Tweets and Facebook updates encouraging our readers to head through to our personalised page on the Blog Awards website, accompanied with an array of blog articles on the subject. We were lucky enough to be shortlisted in December when the vote then went to a panel of judges.
This years sponsors consisted of huge brands such as Debenhams and Go Compare. I wrote a blog article for the UK Blog Awards blog which was then featured as a guest post, gaining some more coverage for Student Wire and myself. Unfortunately I was not able to attend the awards on the 17th April 2015 however this did not inhibit our success. The following day I was informed that Student Wire had been awarded with Highly Commended, an incredible success!
